What is the Post Season Selection Process? At the beginning of each sports season the MHSAA asks the approved associations to submit a small list of officials that should be considered for post season in a given sport. In an effort to ensure that all those eligible to work post season are considered MMOA has implemented a selection process. In this process MMOA will form a committee comprised of at least one board member, a couple of members of the organization and the trainers and assignors for the given sports. While this committee will meet and decide who should be recommended to the MHSAA we do not want the process to become a good old boys selection. There are requirements to be met before selection can be made, some are requirements of MHSAA and some are of MMOA. Once all the requirements have been met there is a formula to fill out. This formula will help the selection committee decide whom to recommend to the MHSAA. Starting in 2004-2005 the MHSAA will be adding a requirement to Football, Soccer, Basketball and Wrestling. That requirement will be that the official must be a member in good stand of an approved association. For our definition of a member in good standing please read our Constitution. In designing the formula we wanted to make sure that officials were rewarded for going to camps during the summer but also didn’t want those that did to get full credit while not attending MMOA meetings (which is required to be a member in good standing). Due to this we have implemented the following policy. If you have attended a camp in the last year it could count as much as ½ of your EDU and Mech. Points. I. This is how it will work: 1. If you attended a camp or clinic in the specified sport and, a. You attended an MMOA EDU Meeting add1 credit for the camp and the EDU Meeting. (i.e. You attended a camp or clinic and you attended 1 hour of MMOA EDU Meetings. You will receive 2 hours or 10 points in the ranking formula.) b. Same for the MMOA Mech. Clinic. (i.e. You attended that camp or clinic and you attended 1 hour or MMOA Mech. Clinics. You will receive 2 hours or 10 points (the max for Mech.) in the ranking formula.) 2. Under the same rule you will not receive credit for the camp or clinic in the ranking formula if you do not attend any MMOA EDU or Mech. Meetings.
