Becoming a Michigan High School Athletic Association(MHSAA) Official

Being an official in the state of Michigan is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Follow the below steps in order to become an MHSAA official.

Step 1: Register with the MHSAA for a sport in which you would like to officiate. Visit www.mhsaa.net for details. Technically, you are now eligible, but further steps can get you started quicker.

Step 2: Register with your local official’s association, in our case, the Mid-Michigan Officials Association(MMOA). Visit www.mmoaonline.org for details. An approved association can assign you games to officiate.

Step 3: Many associations have online assigning sites, where you must also register. If you have registered with the MMOA, you must now register with our online assigning site. Visit http://www.thearbiter.net/ to logon. Once registered AND approved, an userid/password will be e-mailed to you. Having a valid email address is a registration requirement.

After following these steps with the MMOA, you can now sit back and wait for officiating assignments to be given to you, although they are never guaranteed.
